Where do you rescue the Druid Halsin?
To trigger the ‘Rescue the Druid Halsin’ quest and meet the Druid so that you can invite him back to camp, you must find him where he was captured at the Worg Pens:
- Head west from Emerald Grove to the Blighted Village.
- Continue west to the goblin camp and south to the courtyard.
- Head through the Shattered Sanctum, keep walking, and go across the bridge.
- Enter the door ahead and go down the stairs to the right.
- You’ll find three children with a caged bear – this is Halsin.
Hecan join you briefly as you clear out the goblin leaders from the goblin camp. However, after that, he will return to Druid Grove and provide information on Moonrise Towers, which progresses the main scenario.

How to get Halsin to join your party
After rescuing Halsin from the Goblin Camp he comes to reside at your camp, but cannot be immediately recruited. As you progress through the main quest, you’ll find Art Cullagh at the Last Light Inn, and this triggers Halsin’s companion quest. Eventually, he will join your party. It’s worth noting that if you do not help Art Cullagh, Halsin will not join your party, instead opting to stay behind in the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

As a Druid, protecting nature and animals and being kind to others raises Halsin’s approval rating. Other Druids hold him in high regard, and he strives to help others.

Inspiration points can be gained by both your own character and your companions based on your background. These points can then be used to reroll ability checks during key moments.
How to romance Halsin
You’ve probably heard of, if not seen, one of your options when romancing Halsin, as Astarion was seen getting intimate with the Druid’s bear form during a pre-launch broadcast.
Whether you want to roll around in the grass with the human or hairy Halsin variant, you must increase his approval rating to be able to trigger a romantic scene with him from camp.
Best Halsin build
The Druid is perhaps the most versatile class in D&D 5e, as it has proficiency in a plethora of weapon and armor types, access to powerful defensive-based spells, and the ability to shapeshift.
At level 2, Druids can pick a subclass, and Halsin may be a part of the Circle of the Moon given his bear form, though he can also slot into the Circle of Spores subclass. Here’s a list of spells to prepare after each long rest that make great use of Halsin’s abilities:

If an enemy gets in close to Halsin and you do not want to use a charge of Wild Shape, the Cantrip Shillelagh can power up his club or staff to deal extra damage in close.
