You’ve made it out of the Forest and are now in the final section of chapter 1 of Deltarune. Get ready to face the king, and subsequently, your destiny. There are plenty of enemies throughout the castle but most of them can be avoided. This walkthrough will explain where to go, offer combat tips, and identify the location of Key Items.
Welcome to the Castle
Now that you’ve saved your game, head north to the grey doors. You’ll automatically take the elevator to Floor 1. It’ll take a while for the sake of dialogue but, don’t worry, it won’t always take this long.

Castle Floor 1
Exit the elevator and save your game. Head west and you’ll encounter 2 Rudinn Rangers. Fight them violently of peacefully. Fight them peacefully or violently. Below are tips for both methods.
- Attacks to dodge: The Rudinn Rangers will throw daggers at you. Some will fly quickly, others will move in slow motion. Stay towards the middle or left of the screen to weave between the daggers
- Peaceful: Have Kris > Act > Compliment. Susie will automatically join in. Ralsei can spare the Rudinn you just complimented, ending your turn
- OR you can have Kris > Act > Convince. This will cause the enemy to become tired. Ralsei can Pacify the enemy in the same turn as long as you have at least 16% TP
- Violent: Continuously attack. Remember, once an enemy becomes tired Ralsei can spare them as long as you have at least 16% TP.
Keep moving west and take the path on the left. You’ll see a diamond-shaped door. Feel free to explore what’s inside but the important thing to note is the door itself. If you’re interested in unlocking that secret boss you’ll need to solve that puzzle from the Field. Below is a refresher on the puzzle.
Write down the door shapes as you travel up the castle if you care to unlock the secret boss. If not, ignore it.
Continue north along the hallway and take the stairs to the next floor. Note: on the other side there’s an elevator but it’s stuck at the top floor. You’ll be able to use it again once you reach the top of the castle, allowing easy backtracking.
Floor 2
Walk into the room and there will be 4 spinning lines of diamonds. You want to take the southern path to get to the treasure chest. Be sure to dodge the diamonds on your way there. Below is a route you can take to get there safely.

Inside the treasure chest will be a ClubsSandwich, when used it will help restore HP.
Return to the main room and take the path east. You’ll be locked into the room by spikes and Rouxls Kaard will appear. You’ll have to solve their puzzle to leave. Luckily it should be pretty familiar to you. Slide the box onto the switch and you’ll be good to go.
Exit and head north to take the stairs to the next floor.
Floor 3
This room will have Head Hathys in it. If they see you, they will fight you as a group of three Hathys. You can defeat them passively or violently.
Attacks to avoid
- You’ll be encircled by heart bullets but this time the circle will pulsate and move
- You’ll also be encircled by a heart outline that will spin and then head in the direction of the pointed end, but this will happen faster than with a regular, green Hathy.
If you take the peaceful route have Kris > Act > Flatter, Susie will join in but pass the ball to Ralsei. The enemy will feel so awkward they’ll show themself out. A pretty easy victory.
Move to the east side of the room and note the heart-shaped door. Feel free to enter and explore if you’d like.

Continue your mission by heading to the west side of the room. Use the indentations along the way to avoid any Head Hathys. Move up and take the staircase to the next floor.
Floor 4
This room is full of Paper Dancers. Be sure to travel “with traffic” here and move to the east side of the room and taking that path.
You’ll get to another of Rouxls Kaard’s puzzles. This time you’ll have to push the box two times to get it onto the switch. Finish the puzzle and then keep moving.
Now take the exit south. Note the clover-shaped door and take the stairs to the next floor.
Floor 5
Save your game and continue moving forward. Note the spade-shaped. Feel free to buy some items at the shop. It’s recommended to buy whatever fits your playstyle (i.e items that increase Attack of Defense, depending) and stock up on healing items.

You’re now ready to locate a Secret Boss, if you want an optional challenge with a special reward - but be warned, it will be a tough fight. If you’d rather continue with your main mission, see the next section below, or check our Guide for How to Find The Chapter 1 Secret Boss
Top of the Castle
Now that you’re at the 5th floor head north and take the stairs to the top of the castle. You’ll be greeted by Rouxls Kaard. They’ll be sending in K.Round to battle you. Remember, you have to defeat K.Round peacefully by knocking its crown off.
- Have Kris > Act > Susie’s Idea. This will lead to Susie throwing Ralsei. Set the direction at a 55 degree angle with [C]. When you hit [C] a second time you’ll throw Ralsei. Be sure to have the blue trajectory hitting the crown as pictured above.
K. Rounds attacks are the same as before.
- Hopping inside the green battle box, trying to crush you to death. It jumps pretty high so stay towards the bottom of the screen to avoid his attacks.
- Sticking out its right leg, repeatedly, to shoot star-shaped bullets at you. Stay in the middle or towards the left of the screen to give yourself more time to dodge.
- Hopping and then flashing white. When it does this that means it will release a star-shaped bullets when it hits the ground. Be ready to dodge these in addition to the stomp itself.
- Performing a split and then moving to the upper left-hand corner as star-shaped bullets fall from its legs. Stay towards the left at first and dodge in the middle/bottom of the screen.
- Note: If you do attack K. Round it will eventually practice self-care by drinking a carton of milk to increase its HP and Attack stats. If you have a hard time dodging attacks you may want to warn K. Round about Susie so that it does not get stronger.
King Boss Battle
It’s time to take on the King. Do it peaceful or violently.
- Spades will fire from left and right. Dodge up and down.
- The battle box will be turned on its side. The King will whip the box up and down as Spades go from left to right.
- A red line will signal that a long spade spear will come towards you in that direction. Move quickly because another one is on its way.
- A white box with spikes will surround you and bounce around the play area. Be ready to move with the box.
- A white box with spikes will surround you and a red spade spear will pull you around the screen. Move with it to avoid getting hurt.
Once the King is defeated just enjoy where the story goes. If you killed enemies along the way you’ll have to go home immediately. If you were peaceful you get to go back and say goodbye to everyone because they actually like you.
