I love a good BBQ- and I am actually returning home from a weekend in Texas today where I had some AMAZING BBQ (you just can’t find BBQ like that in Utah).

Anyway, I came across this recipe a couple of years ago and it’s now my go-to recipe for special occasions or when I need to impress my dinner guests.

These ribs will make everyone thing that you slaved all day.

But in reality, all you have to do is pop them in the Instant Pot with 2 simple ingredients. Let them cook a bit and they are good!

And even though they are fully cooked, the grilling or broiling is icing on the cake- the BBQ sauce turns to a sticky glaze and they are incredibly delicious.

I promise that your dinner guests will be in BBQ heaven if you make these.

(Warning: you will need A LOT of napkins to clean your hands off when you are done)

HOW TO MAKE FALL OF THE BONE BBQ RIBS In the instant pot

Step 1: Take your slab of ribs (make sure that they are defrosted). Leave them together or you can cut them into individual slabs (about 2-3 ribs each).

Step 2: Pour the Apple Juice into the bottom of the pan

Step 3:Place the Ribs in the Instant Pot by folding them into a half circle, or if the are cut, place them on top of each other.

Step 4: Put the lid on the Instant Pot and cook on Manual for 25 minutes.

Step 5: After they are done in the Instant Pot, use tongs to gently pull them out (they will literally fall apart when you touch them).

Step 6: Gently brush the ribs with BBQ sauce.

Step 7: Place them onto a foil lined cookie sheet. Cook them on Broil for a few minutes (be sure to watch them)

Step 8: Serve immediately and enjoy.

Could I make this on the grill instead?

You bet you can! Place your ribs the grill and cook them on Medium for 10 minutes. Lightly brush them with BBQ and turn them every few minutes until the BBQ sauce starts to glaze over.

COULD I MAKE THIS RECIPE WITH DIFFERENT MEAT?

The answer is yes. I use this marinade for chicken, steak, pork, etc. You name it, I’ve marinated it, and added all the barbecue sauce, to my heart’s content.

I love the acid from the citrus that works it’s way into the meat, and creates an amazing flavor. You will love this with shredded bbq pork sandwiches. It tastes amazing.

I also love makingBarbecue Chicken Taquitos, with this marinade and mixture. It is amazing.

You could use beef ribs or pork ribs for this recipe.

    I am wondering this too

  5. Paulyn says:

Hi, if I have no apple juice. Can I just use water or stock?

  6. Cyd says:

Water or stock will work, the flavor will be altered since the apple juice is sweet.

  7. Judy says:

Hello,Your video instructs to use the Meat/Stew button, but the online directions say to cook on Manual. Does it matter which you use? The amount of time for each is the same. Thanks!

  11. Shirley Cook says:

can you put two racks of ribs in the pot if you have a 8qt pot and if so would you change the cooking time. Thank you Shirey

  12. Alli Shepherd Decker says:

I've made this recipe twice and each time my meat has been tough and not falling apart at all. What am I doing wrong? Does it make a difference if you quick release?

  13. Trish Deihm says:

I tried this recipe tonight and my ribs, like another commenter, also came out tough and not falling off. I did quick release. Should I have let it come down on its own?

  14. ETTA says:

Kristen, I bought ribs with the intent to cook them in the instant pot. I looked at quite a few people's takes on how to do it. I was leery about all of the instructions, so I came back to you because I've trusted your instructions on other things in the instant pot and they came out good. I have extensive chewing issues, so I really needed them to be tender.I tried your method and they turned out tender and delicious. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  15. Cyd says:

WIN!! So glad they turned out for you!!! We love the Instant Pot!

  16. Robert Lovato says:

I don't see any mention of removing the "Membrane" or "Silver" on the ribs. If this is intact you will likely have a tough chew to get through it when the ribs are finished. I always remove the membrane, using a slotted screwdriver (yes I just said screwdriver ;-) and a paper towel to grip the membrane as I rip it off the ribs. I learned this with my Traeger BBQ and the instructions that came for that.

  17. Melissa says:

Is there a place to find the nutrition facts?

  18. Momma Cyd says:

We are slowly getting the nutrition info on all of our recipes on our new website. It will take some time. I'll make a note to do this one soon.

  19. Tim Hoover says:

I have a perfect method for ribs but it takes 2 hours in the oven in a cooking bag then sauce and broil. Super tender. I'm going to try this and see if it's as good cuz a lot less time involved and no hot oven in the summertime😊
