Philadelphia Phillies - Overview (2024)

  • DanteNori

    PHI Outfielder

Phillies selected Northville High School (MI) OF Dante Nori with the No. 27 selection of the 2024 MLB Draft.

Nori is one of the oldest prep bats in the class, as he’ll turn 20 in October. He’s also one of the most talented with a chance to hit for average and with double-plus speed to make him a major threat to steal bases and play center field. He also has a strong throwing arm, so that defensive profile will help him move maybe more quickly than a typical prep bat. The age adds risk, but fantasy managers should be intrigued by his skill set.

  • TreaTurner

    PHI Shortstop #7

Trea Turner went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in a loss to the A’s on Sunday.

Turner was removed from the game early with the Phillies getting absolutely destroyed, but he is fully healthy heading into the break. In fact, Turner is more than just healthy, homering in eight of his last 12 games. He may have only appeared in 57 games so far this season, but the production has been elite over those games.

  • Michael Mercado allowed six runs on five hits in four innings in a loss to the Athletics on Sunday.

After a poor start against the Braves last week, the Phillies used an opening for him today against the A’s, but it didn’t do any good. Technically, Mercado only allowed five hard-hit baseballs, but three of them were home runs and four went for extra-base hits. Mercado now has a 9.26 ERA and should likely not be in the Phillies rotation for long after the All-Star break.

  • OrionKerkering

    PHI Relief Pitcher #50

Orion Kerkering will serve as the opener for Sunday’s tilt against the Athletics.

Kerkering is getting the start, but won’t work anywhere near deep enough to qualify for a win. The 23-year-old shouldn’t be streamed, even against a not-so-great Oakland lineup.

  • BryceHarper

    PHI First Baseman #3

Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, a home run and three RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.

Harper’s home run was his 21st of the season. He was due to have a big game after initially struggling in his return from the injured list. Harper homered in the seventh inning and then hit a two-run double in the eighth inning. He’s hitting .303 with a .987 OPS and 61 RBI on the season.

  • NickCastellanos

    PHI Right Fielder #8

Nick Castellanos went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI against the Athletics on Saturday.

Castellanos’ home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Mitch Spence in the second inning and later added a two-run double in the eighth inning. Castellanos is hitting .235 with a .684 OPS and 47 RBI on the season.

  • TylerPhillips

    PHI Relief Pitcher #48

Tyler Phillips allowed three runs in six innings and got the win in the Phillies’ 11-5 victory over the Athletics on Saturday.

Phillips gave up six hits, walked none and struck out five. Not bad for his first major league start. Phillips started the seventh inning, but was removed after allowing a home run to Brent Rooker and a double to Shea Langeliers. Phillips isn’t a highly touted prospect, but could continue to occupy a spot in the rotation while Taijuan Walker and Spencer Turnbull are on the injured list. At least for the time being, he’s viable in deeper formats.

  • RangerSuarez

    PHI Starting Pitcher #55

Ranger Suárez is dealing with back tightness.

Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski told reporters he doesn’t anticipate Suárez requiring a trip to the injured list and that he should be ready to make his first start coming out of next week’s All-Star break. The 28-year-old left-hander earned his first selection to the Midsummer Classic, but has already been replaced on the senior circuit’s roster.

  • CristopherSanchez

    PHI Starting Pitcher #61

Cristopher Sánchez has been added to the National League’s All-Star Game roster.

Sánchez, who is replacing Braves ace Chris Sale, becomes the eighth Phillies player on the senior circuit’s roster, which matches an all-time record. The 27-year-old southpaw, who finalized a long-term contract extension last month with Philadelphia, earns his first trip to the Midsummer Classic after posting a sparkling 2.96 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 87/28 K/BB ratio over 103 1/3 innings (18 starts).

  • KyleSchwarber

    PHI Left Fielder #12

Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-2 with two walks on Friday against the Athletics.

The Phillies drew plenty of walks off Hogan Harris, but couldn’t get a hold of anything in this one. They didn’t have a single extra-base hit and left Schwarber stranded multiple times. He’s been on base in 14 of his last 15 games.
